Late last year a Facebook status update caught my eye: babies aged between the ages of 3 and 9 months were wanted for a photo shoot in my home town! Now, like most mothers, I had long since been convinced of my baby’s beauty. I defy you not to fall in love with her. But then, I would say that. However, with Bella it was more than that. She’s not just a pretty face, she is a very calm and amenable soul too. She also loves the camera, so the idea of a photo shoot was more than a little exciting!

So last November we went along to the shoot (and met with Mummy’s Little Peeps) with Karen, owner of The Essential One, and we had such a ball! Bella loved the attention and she also loved being the only baby robust enough to be sitting and walking and just generally ruling the roost. The clothes changes were no big deal and when she did get restless, Karen and the rest of the team were more than happy for her to go off and do her own thing until she was ready again. The clothes that we got to try on were, as expected, beautiful. The Essential One was a new to me label then, and I only wish I had discovered it sooner. We did buy a beautiful pram suit after the shoot, which Bella still wears today, and which everybody always comments on.

Today, the new Spring catalogue arrived and Bella leapt from the pages with a huge smile. Proud, yes. And moved, oh yes. It was Jennie who shared The Essential One’s status with me last year, and of course it was The Essential One who provided Matilda Mae with her forever clothes. The arrival of the catalogue today put a smile on my face for more reasons that one.
