On Sunday we returned from the Matilda Mae Welly Walk to find a parcel from the lovely Keira at Mama Designs. The children were delighted to find everything we needed to throw a special birthday party because…
Mama Designs is 5!
I was introduced to Mama Designs on the day that Jennie posted a lovely photo of Matilda Mae on Facebook, with an excitedly proud announcement that she had won the Mama Designs baby modelling competition. And no wonder. The photo of Matilda in her purple snoodie is one of my favourites now. Until that day, Mama Designs had not been on my radar, and I honestly do not know how I missed them.
Just a short few weeks later, I met Keira. She sat beside Monika in a small church in Kent and she gave me tissues when I needed them. Later on, we shared a hug and a cry as we paid our respects to Matilda Mae’s family. We met again at Brit Mums, strengthening a new friendship that had, sadly, been built on such sorrowful ground.
On Friday 1st November Mama Designs turned 5 years old, as Jennie and Heather and I were travelling down to Reading to remember Matilda Mae at the Welly Walk. In our party pack we were sent bubbles to remember her, and a snoodie decorated with stars that I feel sure Keira chose carefully for us. Take a look at the last 5 years in this video:
And so Mama Designs is a very important and very special baby brand to me today, which is why I am honoured to be a part of the celebrations this week and why I will be having another party on Thursday with Lisa, who is also a huge fan. We have a pink hearts Babasac on our Christmas list this year too! In honour of the occasion I would like to tell you about my last 5 years:
Five years ago
Where I was… I was fresh out of my PGCE and half a term into my NQT (Newly Qualified Teacher) year. We’d just moved into the house where I sit today, and we had also just made the decision to extend our little family. Life was good. Life was exciting. Life was full of promise!
Why I love being a parent… 1. my children made me realise what love is. 2. my children make me realise that I am important. 3. my children help me work at being better so I can give them a better life. 4. my children make me smile each and every day, no matter what has happened. 5. my children.
Things I can do now that I couldn’t do then… 1. I can drive! 2. I can jump from planes! 3. I can walk into a room full of 300+ children without quaking in fear! 4. I can name every single dinosaur that roamed the earth! 5. I can recite whole episodes of Peppa Pig!
Highlights of the last five years… making new friends, seeing new places… realising what is important in life.
The last five years has seen so much change for me, and most of that has been in the last two years. Thank you Mama Designs- not just for the highly cute baby stuff, but for the rest of it too. My favourite thing about you is that your views on friendship are just the same as mine.
