Letters for Matilda Mae: from Michele

Today I have  great honour of sharing a letter to Matilda Mae from her godmother, Michele.

Letters for Matilda Mae: from MicheleDearest Matilda,

When mummy rang to tell me that you had died I can honestly tell you that day has been the saddest one of my life and will be etched in my memory forever.  I had been with you that very day; it was a wonderful day- especially seeing the bond developing further between you and your big sister.

You had been as gorgeous as ever and seeing you properly crawl was such a wonderful moment.  So many memories of you still remembered and I find so very hard to believe that you have been gone from us for a year.

When you were born it was just so exciting and so very different from the arrival of Esther and William, which had been frightening. You were home for tea!  I have never seen such a happy and relieved mummy!  Time passed and with each week I saw you growing into a wonderful natured and beautiful baby girl.  My relationship with you was quite different as you were a singleton-  more intense and precious moments.

Matilda, you have made me a better mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend.  I don’t get stressed about the small things anymore; I think of you, stop and re focus. As for the big problems – I don’t procrastinate anymore, I sort them.  Thank you x

I appreciate more what I have, savour special moments, take more photos and accept my life as it is, rather than wishing for more- and I really do thank you for that x

In fact, so many people have told me that it has changed their lives; your legacy spreads far and wide.

Your mummy has been amazing, you would be so proud. She has spoken on the radio and at the House of Commons, all in your memory and to help others.  Your mummy is braver and Letters to Matilda Maenow starting to believe that people really do like her because she is lovely, something she has never believed no matter how much I have told her! Thank you Matilda Mae x

Matilda, I made you a promise, that I would always be there to help your family, to help them move forward, to try to enjoy life again but we would never ever forget you.  I am keeping this promise and can assure you that you will NEVER be forgotten x

Love you and miss you Matilda Mae.

Your Godmother Michele x x x

Everyone in the world should have a best friend and a godmother like you Michelle… someone there through thick and thin, ups and downs. Keep telling Jennie what an amazing person she truly is and give her extra hugs from us once in a while too.
