You should be two

Mile in Memory of Matilda Mae 2014Today, you should be two.

We’ll blow bubbles kisses to the sky,

we’ll light a candle

we’ll take a moment to stop, and think, of you.

Today, you should be two.

There are balloons but they’ve been hung with tears.

There are gifts that you won’t open,

smiles that you won’t  see

and dreams of should-have-been years.

Today you should be two.

Today you should be two.

And though I’ve never heard your laugh, or seen your smile

these things are on my mind

as we get ready to walk your mile

Knowing that today, you should be two.

This year’s Mile in Memory of Matilda Mae will be held on May 17th at Walton Gardens, Warrington.

Mile in Memory of Matilda Mae 2014

We will walk at 11am and would love to see you there. Walton Gardens is a beautiful park with a route that Heather, Lisa and I have already practised ready for the day. We will hang pink and purple balloons along the route and afterwards, you are free to enjoy the cafe, the children’s animal zoo, mini golf course and the small train ride. Of course, there is the children’s play area too, which caters for children of all ages.

All monies raised will go to The Lullaby Trust, the UK’s leading charity for funding research into and supporting families of victims of Sudden Infant Death. Please register your family here and please also make a donation to Jennie’s page here. We hope to be able to collect donation on the day also and would dearly love to see you there.

Please bring:

  • change for the car park
  • wellies and waterproof clothes in case it rains
  • bubbles to blow for Matilda Mae
  • anything pink or purple!

I hope that whatever the weather and how ever many people turn up, it will be special just because we are walking for Matilda.

A beautiful post. Since stumbling upon Jennie’s website a few months ago, I have not stopped thinking about her family, her as a mum, how hard it must be and how much she must be helping parents with similar experiences. She is very brave to write about it all. x Mel
