Frugi Explorer coat: a review

We love Frugi! We’re part of the Frugi family, and feel so honoured to be reviewing one of their wonderful Explorer coats! The School Boy was more than delighted when the weather turned and it was cold enough to wear to school!

Frugi Explorer coat_ a review~

Like all Frugi clothes that we’ve reviewed so far (like this top and these bits for older kids), the Explorer coat is wonderfully made. The fabric is soft to touch and incredibly lightweight too, despite the insulation it provides. It has a gorgeous fleecy inside and a water resistant outside and we LOVE the fact that it’s made from 100% recycled fibres!

Special features

Alongside the shower resistance and beautiful fleecy inside, the Explorer coat has some special faatures that make The School By smile:

a secret pocket!

I don’t know why, but my kids have a thing for secret pockets. They love them. And there was much celebration when we discovered this bad boy on the sleeve! I often find small treasures in that pocket, and The School Boy loves to show everyone when he gets the chance… not so secret any more, but still just as exciting!

reflective stars!

The School Boy loves the stars because ‘they’re cool’ and I love them because now that that nights are drawing in, you can’t miss my son with his night light coat! We do walk to school and this term it’s important that he’s visible when it’s dark, so the reflective stars are a wonderful and much appreciated feature.

elasticated hood!

A hood is essential when you live up north, and an elasticated one is even better. It stays up when you need it too and it doesn’t fall over the face when the wind blows either.

The verdict

The Explorer coat is lightweight, durable and water poof. It washes well and dries very quickly- a huge plus point when your child comes home muddy from school and needs the coat again the next day. The fleecy liner means that it keeps little bodies warm and the hood protects from the rain. The School Boy loves this coat and so do I. It is slightly more expensive than I would normally pay, at £46, but after a few week’s use it’s easy to see why. The coat really is made to a high standard and it’s obviously designed with little explorers in mind!

Trees have been climbed, playgrounds have been ran around, wobbly bridges have been stumbled upon…. and the Explorer coat is still as good as new. Perfect.

We were sent the Explore coat free of charge for review purposes only. No other payment was made and all opinions are my own!

I love the stars! We recently discovered Frugi and I agree with you: not cheap but amazing quality. I went for some applique t-shirts and they are so thick and lovely. Next time we need a coat for M I’ll be having a look at the site.
