My #MatExp action

June is the month of action and I want to share my #MatExp action pledge with you.

The #MatExp campaign is gaining even more momentum now that the site is up and running and our Facebook group is thriving too. It’s wonderful to see so many people passionate about making changes that benefit women and families accessing maternity services. It’s an honour to be a part of it all.

During June we’re asking people to pledge an action to help make the changes happen. #MatExp is not led by any one person and we want everyone to take ownership. If you want to get involved, please don’t wait for permission- just do it! And if you’re not sure how, have a read of Leigh’s post, All actions big and small.

This is my #MatExp action pledge.

#MatExp action pledge~ Ghostwritermummy.co.uk

I am going to take action by helping to re-launch Maternity Matters this month. By giving a voice to those who want to share their experiences. By writing to raise awareness of IUGR, HG, and birth trauma. By writing to break down the shame associated with c-sections so that women who give birth by this method continue to feel empowered and strong.

I want to break the barriers between ‘us and them’ and let the world know that ALL birth is beautiful, emotional and special. To destroy misconceptions that there is a right way and a wrong way.

I want to educate people about IUGR, let women know how they can take control of their care during pregnancy, to ensure they have a personalised growth chart to track their baby’s growth more accurately. I want to give IUGR mums a place to go where they don’t feel so alone, and a little less small. If you’d like to join the IUGR Support Group UK please do send me a request via Facebook.

I want to support the Pregnancy Sickness Support charity (PSS) educate women and their friends, families and medical teams about HG and the care plans that are available during a HG pregnancy. I want the world to know that it is NOT just morning sickness.

Lastly, I want to support mums who have experienced birth trauma. I want them to have a voice. A shoulder to cry on. A safe place to be. I want the world to know that our feelings are valid.

I am going to do this for my children, and for me, and for all the women that are to tread this path behind me.

Now what are YOU going to do?

You can help me make achieve my action by voting for me in the MAD blog awards! I’m up for best pregnancy blog and your vote would help me spread the #MatExp message a little further! Please click on the badge to go to the awards home page and choose Vote in the 2015 finals from the drop down menu. THANK YOU!

Congratulations on being a finalist in the MAD Awards that’s great news!

More on topic, I find blogs like these really reassuring that when my time comes I’ll be able to have the confidence to have my children in the way I want. I think you’re doing great things for all women out there, not just the survivors, those about to meet their babies in the next nine months but also women like me yet to walk that path!

You are such an inspiration and I personally feel like it’s ok to talk about what I’m feeling and experiencing during pregnancy because of people like you xxx
