Lucky Elsie was recently sent some toys from the lovely people at Fisher Price, and I have to say that once again we’ve not been disappointed with them. It seems that everything we’ve reviewed from those guys has ticked all the boxes for Elsie, and the latest selection are looking set to exceed any expectations we’ve come to have. I’ve always thought that Fisher Price were one of those brands that have been around for so long for a very good reason, and now I am certain of that. We’ve been testing out the Laugh and Learn Smart Stages tea set and the Laugh and Learn Sis’ Smart Stages purse, and this is what we thought.
Laugh and Learn Smart Stages tea set
This one has been a real hit with all the kids! Poor Elsie doesn’t really get a look in when new things arrive and this is one toy I’ve had to remind the older two is actually for her, and that they should show her how to play with it, instead of taking it away! The set consists of a jolly tea-pot, two cups, and a three tiered cake on a plate.
All the pieces in the set are brightly coloured and durable plastic, perfect for little hands to grab and perfect for teething babies to chew on!
The tea-pot has a front display with three settings, and you use this to determine the activity level for your child. These are the smart stages, and the same concept is applid to the purse too.
The purse is just adorable! A brightly coloured bag filled with treasures- perfect for little hands to pull out and explore. This is one of Elsie’s favourite pastimes when it comes to my handbag, and I’m thrilled that she now loves to do it with her own bag too! Inside the bag are a set of keys, a bracelet, a phone, a mirror and a credit card. All items are fantastic for helping to develop motor skills, and stimulating for babies too. Most of the items are used throughout the day as teethers and rattles too.
Like the tea-pot, the purse has a front panel with three Smart Stages settings, and these can be adjusted according to baby’s age. The stages are:
1: for babies aged six months+ This is the explore stage, and features first words to spark baby’s curiosity and sense of play.
2: for babies aged 12 months+ This stage is designed to encourage baby to play, with questions and simple directions
3: for babies aged 18 months+ This is the pretend stage, designed to encourage baby to indulge in imaginative play.
The tea-pot features
Three levels of play offer fresh songs, phrases & sounds for your little one’s age & stage
• Tilt the “magic” teapot for tunes & sounds
• Press teabag friend for songs & sounds
• Bat at the roly-poly tea pot for wobble action
• Sing-along songs & role-play phrases help baby learn about manners and sharing (From the site)
All the songs are wonderful- catchy and fun and the little teabag lights up in a manner that Elsie seems to find quite mesmerising!
The purse features
Press buttons to introduce baby to shapes, number and colours!
• Teaches some first Spanish words & phrases!
• Put-and-take play with heart mirror, rattle phone, triangle keys, circle bracelet and credit card helps strengthen fine motor skills
• Sweet styling & “just like mom” theme promote early role play
• Accessories fit inside for take-along fun
• Big strap is easy for baby to grasp, hold & carry
• Introduces cause & effect (from the site)
Elsie loves to use the purse to store her other toys in too!
Once again, Fisher Price has provided us with toys that are just perfect for Elise. She loves the tea set and the purse and I do too. The Smart Stages technology is such a clever idea because it means that the toys really do grow with the child, and there is no need to relegate them to the baby box as Elsie gets older. I love the jolly songs too, and they never fail to make her smile!
For motor skills, the purse especially is fantastic, and I love watching Elsie pulls things out to explore them. I also love the idea of her picking up Spanish words and phrases too! There are lots of different learning concepts with each of the the toys- shapes, colours, numbers, social skills, imaginative play… truly toys to span a wide spectrum of learning and toys to stand the test of time too.
Each toy is made from tough and durable materials. They’re brightly coloured, fun to look at and certainly made with baby in mind. Perfect!
You can buy the Smart Stages purse- a fab baby learning toy!- online, and the toy tea set too.
We were sent one Smart Stages tea set and one Smart Stages purse for review purposes only. All opinions are my own.
