Every now and then I come across some clever little things that I just cannot believe I’ve been able to live without. Seriously. When those little niggling parenting obstacles that cause you daily headaches are suddenly eliminated, it’s truly a Christmas miracle! One such clever little thing is the Gro to Bed from the Gro Company. We were sent one to review and I have to say that it is fantastic! Here’s why…
Bella and Elsie share a room. Bella sleeps in the cot bed we’ve had since The Big One was a baby. At the moment it’s the perfect size for her and it means that we can fit two cot beds in the room with no problem at all. And as Bella is such a great sleeper, she never ever wakes when Elsie does, so the arrangement works out really well. What wasn’t working well though, was Bella’s tendency to move a lot in her sleep. And she only ever wakes up when her covers come off. Not a huge problem, really. Except that she calls me when her covers are on the floor, and her calling wakes Elsie. Which means that while she promptly falls back to sleep, nice and cosy once more, Elsie and I are up and awake for another hour or so!
It got to the point where her covers were coming off at least three or four times a night and it was a huge pain. So when the Gro Company asked if we’d like to review a Gro to Bed duvet cover, I thought it couldn’t hurt.
What it is
The Gro to Bed is such a simple idea. It comes for ether cot bed size or single bed size, so we chose the cot bed size. It’s basically a duvet cover that comes with a bed sheet and pillow case attached, and you zip the duvet cover to the sheet so that IT NEVER FALLS OFF. Sounds too good to be true! We chose the Gro to Bed for cot beds in Daisy Dreams,
but there are plenty of other designs to choose from here.
Does it work?
In one word, yes! The bottom bed sheet is elasticated so that it fits snugly onto the mattress and there is even a thick elastic band that you put around the bottom of the mattress to make extra sure that it’s going to stay in place.
But at least it stays put! Once the duvet is inside the cover (and you can buy special duvets from the Gro Company that popper into place so that they don’t slip through the night) you simply fasten the zips, and attach it to the sheet. Genius!
Bella sleeps soundly all night again. Her duvet stays in place and keeps her all snug and safe in bed. PLUS it stops her from falling out as it acts as a kind of sleeping bag too. So I know that at least one person in that room is not going to be waking me up at night!
The Gro to Bed duvet set we reviewed costs £49.99, which is a little on the pricey side. But it really is so clever, and definitely worth the money. It means that Bella sleeps soundly, Elsie sleeps better, and I sleep a little too. Win win! You can also buy spare sheets too.
