Introducing the new Philips Anti Allergen Range

Regular readers will know that poor old elsie suffers from a cow’s milk protein allergy, and she also has a steroid inhaler to treat restricted airways too. On top of that, I suspect she’s suffering from hay fever also- I suffer, and allergies tend to run in the family, so it would come as no great surprise really. So when Philips asked if I would like to try out some products from their new anti allergen range, I agreed readily; anything to ease discomfort and *possibly* help Elsie (and us!) get some better sleep! We were sent the Power Pro Aqua 2 in 1 wet and dry cordless vacuum cleaner, the Power Pro Anti Allergen Bagless Cylinder vacuum cleaner,  the 3000 Series Air Purifier with NanoProtect filter. and the Dust Mite Hand Held vacuum cleaner -and this is what we thought.

The Anti Allergen range

First of all, I love that Philips have brought out a range of products specially for combatting allergens in the home. For me, its the peace of mind that I’m doing everything I can to fight allergens for Elsie and I, and my eldest too who also suffers. Ghostwriterdaddy also reacts quite badly to dust, and since our cleaner went on maternity leave right around the time the products arrived it really was great timing. Philips say they intend to “innovate to enrich lives” and that ” It’s often said that a healthy home is a happy one: if you feel good, life becomes that much more fun to live for you and your family.” and I love that philosophy. The products are designed to help families manage the allergen levels in the home- ” The unique allergen filtration combined with powerful performance helps to filter up to 99% of allergens like pollen, pet dander, dust and dust mites to help you keep your home clean and healthy and protect your family.”

The 3000 Series Air Purifier with NanoProtect filter

I have to admit that when this box turned up I was very doubtful that we would be able to keep it. It’s a fair size and stands upright in your room, so there’s no mistaking or missing it at all. Actually though, it Introducing the new Philips Anti Allergen in really well in the living room and since it’s not so heavy we’ve been able to move it around the house to different rooms with no problem. The air purifier claims that it

In the centre of the device there is a round circular hole that glows a certain colour depending on the level of allergens in the air. Red is bad (!), purple is not great and blue is fine. So upon turning it on, we decided to do a few experiments. When we opened the windows (we have lots of trees surrounding our house) the allergen count increased (this is displayed on the top of the device and counts up or down depending on the levels. This is also where you control the fan speeds) and Introducing the new Philips Anti Allergen we shook the rug the same happened. Hence I was glad to have the other products to deal with the allergens in the room!

The Power Pro Expert Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner

The geek in me will admit that I love hoovering. There is something immensely satisfying about cleaning a room and having a freshly swept carpet, so I literally couldn’t wait to get started with this one. The first area I tested was the offending rug in the living room and I was absolutely shocked to see how much dust was collected in the cylinder. Honestly! That rug had been swept already that day (I tend to hoover at least three times a day) but still the dust was coming out like it was never ending. I ended up sweeping the whole room and the cylinder was almost half full when I’d finished!

The vacuum cleaner has a wonderful 3in1 TriactiveMax nozzle, which means that it “forms a perfect seal with the floor to maximise dust pick-up. 1) It gently opens the carpet with its specially designed soleplate to remove the dust deep down. 2) It sucks up big bits with its larger opening at the front. 3) It sweeps up the dust and dirt closely alongside furniture and walls with its two side brushes. ” Let me tell you, it does this brilliantly too! There’s also a SuperTurbo brush attachment which is great if you have pets, and other attachments for easy cleaning around the home, including a nozzle for hard floors, although I tend to stick with the 3in1 TriactiveMax nozzle as it’s so effective. The cylinder is easy to empty (thank goodness) and the product claims to pick up 100% of dust on hardwood floors. Of course, I tested this out on our hard floors that had already been cleaned that day- yep lots of dust in that cylinder again!

Here’s a quick video of how we put the vacuum cleaner to the test:

The Power Pro Aqua 2 in1 wet and dry vacuum cleaner

This one is my favourite of the lot because it is so easy to use, and so efficient too. We spend a lot of time during the day in the kitchen and play room, both of which have hard floors. And the hallway obviously sees a lot of traffic through the day too so there are always muddy foot prints and bits and pieces on the floor to sweep up. Normally I would hoover a few times a day and mop at the end of the day when all the kids are in bed, but now we have this device I’m known to ‘mop’ at least twice a day, sometimes more!

The Power Pro Aqua 2 in 1 was so easy to set up too, and after it had charged for a few hours it was ready to use. It can be used as a simple cordless vacuum for both carpets and hard floors, with a max setting for a more powerful clean. The wet attachment is a small plastic attachment that you fill with water, and a small amount of floor cleaner if you wish to, and a microfibre cloth attaches with velcro.Introducing the new Philips Anti Allergen Range

Introducing the new Philips Anti Allergen RangeThen you simply click it on to the TriActive Turbo nozzle as and when you need it. You can see from my video that we have a rug in the playroom that obviously I don’t mop, so when I clean that floor, the vacuum cleaner pops off the mop attachment and back on again with no fuss at all.

The Power Pro Aqua 2 in 1 has a 360 degree rotation system to you can whip around any room in minutes, and because you can sweep and mop at the same time you can have a sparkling floor in no time at all. The only thing I would point out is that the location of the on and off switch is right where I hold the cleaner and sometimes during enthusiastic cleaning I accidentally turn it off! Also this one is not great for our downstairs bathroom as its quite a squeeze in there and there is no smaller attachment to get into the nooks and crannies. Other than that, its an amazing products and I couldn’t live without it now. This one has a super long lasting battery and

To conclude, its awesome and we love it! Here’s a short video of it in action:

Dust Mite Hand Held Vacuum

Philips anti allergen is one nifty little thing. I don’t use it as often as the other items as it’s for beds and sofas (our sofas are leather so I only use it for beds) but I do use it every time I change the beds. Its’ designed to remove dust and mites easily with three padded feet that ‘vibrate at a high speed of 3600 rpm to vigorously loosen dust and dirt from inside soft surfaces.’ It claims to safely and effectively removes ‘dust and mites from beds, sofas, plush toys, cushions and all other soft surfaces for an allergy-friendly home.’ It has a UV light to ensure those little critters well and truly bite the dust (sorry!) and because they are so tiny I guess I have to just trust that it does what it says it does!

As a hand held vacuum, this isn’t as lightweight as it could be BUT as its only used for the beds, its not a problem at all. Perhaps being cordless would make it a little easier to use, but the cord itself is long enough to ensure all the beds can be vacuumed without a fuss. The only gripe I had with this one is that the on/off switch is right where I rest my hand when I use it, so I keep turning it off by accident!

I love that bed changing day means sinking into a fresh, clean and dust free bed at the end of the day. It takes seconds to use on each bed too, so its not a huge hassle to use. Peace of mind means this is one appliance that can stay!

The anti allergen range from Philips is fantastic. Peace of mind, great quality products, and affordable too. The price of each appliance is below:

3000 Series Air Purifier: £390- a little on the pricey side but definitely worth the money, as after around 3 months use we can really tell the difference in air quality. My husband in particular usually suffers a lot with sneezing etc when there is dust around, and within 30 minutes after using this on the highest fan setting he is 100% better. During hay fever season this is a real life saver for us all.

Dust Mite Hand Held: £230- another slightly pricey item but the peace of mind if offers when you settle into bed to sleep is worth it. I think perhaps more information is needed in the box with this one, so that consumers know exactly what they’re getting for their money and how the UV light works.

Cordless wet and dry cleaner: £260- worth every single penny. Without a doubt, a fantastic product that we use every day and love doing so.

Power Pro Expert bagless cylinder vacuum cleaner: £260- again, another can’t live without item that truly stands the test in this house. Used more than once a day, we cannot love without it.

We were sent the above items free of charge. All opinions are my own.

I really like the sound of that air purifier. We got a puppy last year and unfortunately quite a lot of extended family have had reactions to him. If we had one of these in the house I’m guessing it would help with that. Going to have to investigate further #TriedTested

I suffer from allergies too, and have a permanently runny nose, and it’s 10 times worse in hayfever season. Both my boys seem to be permanently snotty too so I don’t know if they have inherited my allergies too – I think it’s definitely worth us looking at some anti allergen products though to help minimise our symptoms. I’ve always wondered if an air filter is worth it but it sounds like you got some positive results. We do have a vacuum with a fancy filter that is supposed to help but when I empty it I always end up covered in super-fine dust and it really sets of my allergies – so kind of defeats the purpose really! We’ll have to have a look at the Philips range when we decide to replace it. #TriedTested

Fantastic review, I think all of the products look great! My son and husband both have cat allergies which is unfortunate because my daughter and I are cat loves and have two of them at home. It can cause a bit of bother! I think these products or something similar could be a life saver for us! #TriedTested

As a mother of 2 children it’s very important to keep my house clean and allergy free. I think that air purifier is perfect solution for every house, especially when you have pet or little kids.
