‘Why I Love My Sister’… Celebrating #NationalSisterDay with Zapf BABY born

Yesterday was National Sisters Day so the girls and I have been celebrating! Being one of five girls, I always knew I wanted a big family, and it hasn’t really been a surprise that three of my four are girls too. Girls are the theme of the family in general and sometimes I feel a little sorry for Luka being the only boy- but he loves it really. The lovely people at Zapf Creations asked if they could send us a BABY born interactive sister doll to mark the occasion, so of course we said yes! I was also challenged to ask the girls to think about what being a sister means to them, what they love about it and what they maybe would change if they could…! So here it is. Our thoughts on the BABY born interactive sister doll, and the girls’ thoughts on ‘why I love my sister.’… celebrating #NationalSisterDay in style!

The doll

The girls were so excited when the doll arrived! Bella is a huge fan of dollies and at the moment she absolutely loves styling hair so she was over the moon! I carefully explained that this one was to share with her sister, and so far it’s worked out ok. They do tend to share well in general, and I think they like the idea of the doll being another sister to play with. They’ve named her Anna.

  • hairbrush
  • bobbles
  • hair clips
  • necklace and bracelet
  • water bottle

and the following special features:

  • bendable legs
  • long hair for styling
  • the ability to cry real tears!

Elsie in particular has loved playing mummy to Anna, and I honestly cannot tell you how cute it has been just watching her interact. She has a lovely little ‘play’ voice she uses, and I’ve heard her using phrases that I use with her, such as ‘I’m here baby.,’ and ‘I’ve got you.’ I also overheard her saying ‘Don’t be so silly, you can’t have Pringles for breakfast!’…

Elsie especially loves that Anna has her own ‘bot bot’ and that you can fill it with real water. She’s spent hours so far just sitting and feeding her which is really very cute indeed.

It’s lovely to see the different ways that the girls play. While Elsie likes to feed, and explore the doll’s shoes and clothes, comparing them to her own things and her own experiences, Bella is all about the styling. She loves the fact that the BABY born sister doll can share clothes with her baby sister, and she literally hasn’t stopped styling her hair since she arrived. She is desperately trying to learn how to tie a ponytail too!

Bella has always had a bit of a mothering personality and this is really shining through in the gentle way she plays with Anna.

‘Why I Love My Sister’…

The girls generally get on really well. On a good day, they play together really well and to be honest we rarely have any problems with them. They’ve shared a bedroom since Elsie was old enough to sleep in her own room (although she hardly ever stays all night in there!) and they’re a good combination together. When the BABY born sister doll arrived we talked about what being a sister means to them and what they like about having each other around. Watch our little video to see their answers, and their reaction to the doll when she arrived.

You can buy the Zapf BABY born sister doll now, and we can highly recommend it!

We were sent the BABY born sister doll free of charge in return for our honest views. All opinions are my own and no monetary compensation has been received.
