Alternative Family Breaks in Europe That Won’t Break the Bank

Alternative Family Breaks in Europe That Won’t Break the Bank_Ghostwritermummy.co.ukMany of us live for our holidays. A week or two in the sun with your family is a great way to relax and make some memories while you’re at it. Naturally, a big part of family holidaymaking is getting something amazing within your budget and, let’s face it, family holidays aren’t the cheapest. Maybe this year the purse strings are a little tighter than previously, or you’re looking to save a bit of cash, and the best option for you is a well-priced European holiday. Now there’s plenty of budget getaways out there, but you need them to be family suitable. Here are a few alternative choices for you to book this summer.

Malta

Sometimes the smallest packages pack the biggest punch, and Malta certainly is a tiny country with plenty to offer. Planted firmly in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea off the south coast of Italy and weighing in at 17 miles long and 9 miles wide, Malta has become popular with families thanks to its rich history, diverse dining and abundance of family-friendly activities. The city of Qawra is recommended, where you can visit some of the locations where Game of Thrones was filmed whilst enjoying a beautiful beach resort.

Croatia

Croatia has soared in popularity in the last ten or so years as a country offering wonderful coastal towns, amazing seafood and inexpensive vacationing. Like Malta, Croatia can offer a mix of historical sites and beach holiday fun in many regions, but Porec is well known as a family suitable location with plenty to see. The town dates back to Roman times and boasts a UNESCO heritage site in the form of the Episcopal Complex of the Euphrasian Basilica. If that sounds a bit too boring for the kids, Porec offers a range of villas from the likes of Villa Plus kitted out with play space and outdoor pools. If all else fails, you can spend your time stuffing yourselves with fresh seafood at very affordable prices.

Bulgaria

Eastern Europe has been the bastion of cheap weekend getaways for some time now, but more recently great family holidays have become available away from the stag-do and ‘Club 18-30’ style weekends. You might have heard of Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach, and maybe not for the right reasons, but Albena Beach is a cheap and cheerful destination offering three miles of idyllic coastline that rivals anywhere in Europe. The area also has water parks, bowling alleys and plenty of amenities to keep the whole family entertained on a shoestring budget. Of course, there’s any number of family adventures to be had around Europe and you might wish to stay with the more traditional locations. But if you do fancy something a little different while saving some pennies at the same time, there are some wonderful alternatives out there to choose from.
