The Traditional Games You Should Be Enjoying This Christmas

December 8, 2020      Leave a Comment

Lockdown has taught us a few things. Firstly, we’ve really began to embrace technology for what it is, connecting with people all over the world, but secondly, we’ve also started to appreciate the simpler ways to keep ourselves entertained.

Sales in board games have risen significantly over the last year, while we’re also more committed to quizzing, playing bingo and more.

But what are the more traditional games you should be playing this Christmas as we begin to hope and pray that we can have all our family around the dinner table…

Charades

You won’t find a more traditional Christmas Day game than Charades. It’s simple to play and all you really require to set it up is the creation of some cards in which players must act out.

There are many charades games you can buy online while there’s no reason you can’t take a DIY approach either.

The game is simple to play and is a word guessing game in which players must correctly guess the word or phrase in which a person is acting out. The players acting can’t speak or make any sounds and must rely only on actions. The player who guesses correctly then wins a point.

It’s a classic and can get incredibly animated, especially after one too many eggnogs in what is a fun game for all the family.

Bingo

Bingo is a hugely popular game these days, but rather than settling down for a standard game this Christmas, why not play bingo with a bit of a difference. There are many bingo cards out there which explore scenarios and circumstances rather than numbers. Moon Bingo have recently released a very special Christmas bingo card, which makes players mark off the circumstances we associate with the special day.

There are all manner of fun things on the card, from people wearing Christmas jumpers, to moaning about jobs, singing carols and more, all the things we’ve come to know and love about Christmas. Not only can you play with your household, but you can also virtually play with other households, to see who is the king/queen of Christmas. You can even up the stakes and offer up prizes for the winners!

Monopoly

It isn’t Christmas without an argument over Monopoly. In fact, it’s perhaps a scenario Moon Bingo have missed off their bingo card!

The game has been lighting up Christmas for around 90 years and the tactics each player work on always make for an intriguing few hours, until a sibling tips the board in anger anyway!

It’s a game everyone knows how to play and is the ideal game to get everyone round a table to enjoy.
