On February 2nd 2013, Jennie’s beautiful baby daughter, Matilda Mae, went to sleep and did not wake up. Just like that! In a moment, nine months of life ended.
Matilda Mae was one in 600 babies who die from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in the UK each year. And why? We may never know. We may never be able to make sense of such a horrific and tragic death. We may never be able to heal the pain in Jennie’s heart, nor fill the gaping hole that baby Tilda has left in the family’s life. We will never be able to replace Matilda Mae.
But what we can do is to help the Lullaby Trust in their bid to make the future a lot brighter for many more babies.
The Lullaby Trust funds research into SIDS so that families like Matilda’s can be supported and given answers they so desperately need. The Lullaby Trust also guides and supports families in making the first steps towards growing their family once more, with their Care of Next Infant program. They also provide a bereavment support service and help to educate parents on the importance of safe sleeping.
The Lullaby Trust needs your help in raising funds.
Our latest fundraising event is the #MMWellyWalk. Please stay tuned for full details of what is happening, how much we raise and who is involved.
So many people have contacted Jennie expressing a desire to help her in any way that they could. It quickly became apparent that an online auction would be a fantastic way for everyone to be able to show their support. So many gifts were being offered that Jennie felt there could be a real possibility of raising funds for the charity that was to become her lifeline.
We will never forget Matilda Mae and we hope that the online auction is able to raise lots of essential funds for the trust so that more babies are given a chance at a brighter future. Please support us, by sharing details of the auction, placing a bid and taking a chance on that bright future.
So many prizes have been pledged for the auction, full details of which will be added here soon. The auction is due to open on May 11th and will run until May 20th. It is being run by Tots100 and full details of the auction site will also be added soon.
I hope you will join us in supporting Jennie and all the other families who have sadly lost a loved one to SIDS. If you would like to display our auction badge, please grab the code here:
